Mais quand on voit la situation tendue qu’il y a l’IUP suite à la fermeture du master 1 tourisme en septembre 2008, il y a de quoi s’inquiéter de bien des choses. La Lozère a cette particularité de posséder très peu d’établissements pour les études supérieures. Pire, ces mêmes établissements, situés dans d’autres départements, sont souvent (très) loin. Montpellier, Nîmes, Toulouse, Clermont-Ferrand, Aurillac, Lyon sont les plus prisées des villes étudiantes pour les jeunes Lozériens. Et la plus proche d’entre elle se trouve à environ 2 heures de route (si l’on ne compte pas les fréquents embouteillage aux horaires scolaires).
En parrallèle étudions les activités d’un adhérant à un club de sport (dans l’exemple, c’est la vision sport collectif qui est utilisée, mais c’est transposable pour tout autre sport). Durant la semaine, il faut débloquer une à deux soirées pour les entraînements, rester en contact avec le coach et/ou les autres joueurs pour se tenir informé des déplacements. Le week-end c’est alors : soit consacrer un peu de temps pour assister (aider) aux matchs des autres équipes de son club, soit partir en déplacement. En Lozère (sauf pour certains clubs de football, et encore), le moindre déplacement c’est plus d’une heure et demi (rien que l’aller). Autrement dit, un week-end est vite gangrené par le voyage.

Alors, pour l’étudiant qui revient vers sa famille, après une semaine de cours et le temps du trajet, il devient très très difficile de suivre les activités de son club. D’autant plus qu’il n’a pas participé à la (les) séance(s) d’entraînement(s) collectif(s).
On l’a vu lorsque l’Avenir Foot Lozère, ou plus récemment avec le Mende Volley Ball, ont atteint un niveau national ceci c’est accompagné par la disparition d’une grande parties des jeunes joueurs lozériens. Les contraintes sont en effet trop grosses, même si le talent y est. Tous les clubs du département souffrent de ce symptôme, avec une baisse d’effectif pour les catégories d’âge 18-24 ans. Comment obtenir des résultats si la formation n’aboutit pas à l’utilisation des joueurs du cru ?
Une solution pourrait être de recruter parmi les jeunes qui viennent étudier en Lozère. Malheureusement la vie estudiantine est aux abonnées absents (ou presque) dans le département. Même si les clubs arrivent parfois à trouver des joueurs en BTS ou à l’IUFM, mais qui, une fois leurs études terminées, restent rarement dans nos contrées.
En guise de conclusion, j’espère que nous serons nombreux à désaprouver la situation de l’IUP au bord de l’agonie, et où les sections qui ne ferment pas voient leur effectif baisser. Une des promesses électorales (de plusieurs candidats) lors des dernières municipales était l’arrivée d’une classe préparatoires aux grandes écoles dès la rentrée 2009 au Lycée Chaptal. Espérons que la mairie saura mettre ça en place, et développer Mende en ville universitaire…
